Characters:
Barry Badass Smooth talking and smooth rolling gender-blending non-binary owner of the club KingDom.
Beau Jangles the slick and silver tongued crooner, co-owner of KingDom and lounge singer.
Moloko Jones the tricksy spiv and loose canon, whose underworld connections cause all sorts of drama and who has a tendency to set things on fire.
Randy the diminutive and non-threatening doorman from the US, conspiracy theorist and paranoid about losing his hair/virility.
Frank the shy and awkward accountant/business manager, tasked with keeping the business on the straight and narrow but who, in his spare time, attends illegal raves and dreams of being a performer.
Steve the laddish barman, he’s a womaniser, leers at women and is the epitome of fragile masculinity.
In a dark alleyway Moloko Jones narrates an exciting tale of intrigue and adventure and this story of one fateful night comes to life on the screen. He describes how, without an urgent injection of cash, KingDom faces imminent closure and our cast of eclectic characters face a humiliating and uncertain future. Never one to concentrate on a problem for long Randy suggests they all visit the ‘monument to masculinity’ on show at a local gallery, for a fun lads outing, when suddenly Moloko gets an idea. They could save their beloved bar and get their hands on an iconic work of art reflecting what they value above all else; Manhood. Scoping out the gallery they realise the guard is a bit of a ladies man, just like Steve, and conclude that no one could capture the essence of a seductive woman better than a man. So the boys drag up, the heist begins, and needless to say all does not quite go to plan.
Our gender bending 25 minute comic drama takes thematic inspiration from Snatch and Some like it Hot, and stylistic inspiration from films by Edgar Wright.
